As a group of visual artists we began our inquiry by making prints inspired by the information we were gathering. Body systems, msds sheets, maps, information about toxicity and routes of entry, printing substrates – all of these became source material for image making. We worked individually on images, and collectively in the studio. The images that make up the slide show are digital collages from all of these fragments. In many ways the creation of the images mirrors the way the website took shape – bit by bit, layering questions and answers, transparency and opacity, confusion and understanding. As artists we believe these images tell an important story and become one more way of getting beneath the surface.
